What is Alzheimer’s Disease?

Alzheimer’s is a devastating, progressive disease that destroys memory and other important mental functions, mainly in the older (65+) population. Brain cell connections and the cells themselves degenerate and die, eventually destroying memory and other important mental functions. Memory loss and confusion are the main symptoms. Unfortunately, no cure exists, but medications and management strategies may temporarily improve symptoms.

Approximately 6.7 million Americans aged 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s Disease. This number is expected to nearly double by 2060, highlighting the growing need for research and effective treatments.
